Basic Waterpolo Rules
  1. Field players may only touch the ball with one hand at a time. The goalie may use two hands anywhere inside the four-meter area. Outside the four-meter line, the goalie can only use one hand. (The goalie may not cross half-way)
  2. On the side of the pool there are three markers. The mark closest to the end of the pool is the goal line. The middle red mark is the two meter line (from the goal line) and the third mark is the four meter line.(from the goal line)
  3. An offensive player cannot go inside the two-meter mark without possession of the ball.
  4. Each quarter of the game starts with a sprint for possession of the ball, which is dropped at half-tank by the referee.
  5. A player may not take the ball underwater if there is a defensive player in contact with them.
  6. A normal foul is a "minor" foul that occurs if the defensive player goes over the body or shoulder of a player to gain possession of the ball. If this occurs, a free pass is awarded to the fouled player, who has three seconds to put the ball in play.
  7. Ejections occur when an offensive player has the opportunity or clear path to score and a defensive player plays the body of the offensive player instead of the ball. Ejections also occur in the case of brutality. (punching,swinging,fighting) Ejection's last twenty seconds or until a goal is scored.
